En världsartist på en armlängds avstånd

Den 8 juli hade jag förmånen att fotografera den amerikanska artisten Moriah Peters på Gullbrannafestivalen. Det är alltid kul att fotografera världsartister som bjuder ordentligt på sig själva på mindre scener. Som grädde på moset var ljussättningen i världsklass vilket gjorde mitt uppdrag som festivalfotograf enkelt.

All For The King - Nytt spännande rockband från Jönköping

Gitarristen, producenten och låtskrivaren Erik Tilling har startat bandet All For The King tillsammans med sångaren Ricard Hulteke (Empire 21), basisten Johan Tjernström (Ole Børud band) och trummisen Olof Gardestrand (I'm from Barcelona). Musiken är mycket tyngre än den man vanligtvis brukar höra från Erik Tilling. Tidigare har han skrivit många kristna lovsånger och psalmer. Men vi som har sett honom live har förstått att han har rötter i betydligt tyngre musik. 



All For The King har precis släppt debutsingeln The Old Man som förutom titelspåret även innehåller låten Never Back Down. Rent musikaliskt låter det mycket bra och Eriks tunga riffande mot betonggolv för tankarna till gitarristen Tony Iommi. Men återigen blir jag förvånad över den erfarne lovsångsledaren och sångaren Ricard Hulteke. Trots att han bara sjungit hårdrock i två år imponerar han stort. Han har en av de mäktigaste rockrösterna i Sverige. Hans röst är soulig och sångstilen liknar legenden Glenn Hughes men han når inte lika högt som honom men har å andra sidan lite mer pondus och djup i rösten. 

Den första singeln ger mersmak och bandet håller på att skriva och spela in låtar till sin debutskiva. Om de nya låtarna håller samma höga klass som singeln kan det bli en riktigt bra fullängdare!

Narnia - Reaching for the top

Narnia is a Swedish band who plays melodic neoclassical metal. The band was founded by the vocalist Christian Liljegren and the guitarist Carl-Johan (CJ) Grimmark in 1996. Christian left the band in 2008. The band continued with Germán Pascual as a new lead singer until 2010 when the group decided to take a break. 

In late 2013 decided Christian and Carl-Johan to reform Narnia and go on tour in 2014 to celebrate that it was 15 years since the release of their metal anthem - Long Live the King. 

Narnia celebrates 20 years as a band this year and will release a much acclaimed album that is scheuled to be released on september 16. It will be released worldwide on vinyl record, CD and digital formats. The band will also go on tour and will play in Sweden, The Netherlands and Switzerland in 2016.

What lens did you use?

I posted some pictures from the Norwegian musician Ole Børuds concert at Gullbranna in Sweden on the 7th of mai on my flickr-page today. Almost instantly I got this question on my FlickrMail from one of the viewers who had checked the pictures EXIF-information: 
- Do you have the new Sony FE 70-200/2,8 lens?
It happens every now and then that people check the EXIF information or ask me the following question:
- What lens did you use?
My answer is that I always use the best lens for the purpose and it can be cheap or expensive but in the end it's the result that matters.

Run for Your Life

It's sounds like the title of an Heavy Metal song from the 80s. But "Run for Your Life" is actually the name of a charity run that was held in Gullbranna this saturday for the benefit of the Swedish Alliance Missions work around the world. 41 runners raised a total of 81,000 kronor.

Short-term Mission can give us long-term effects

Operation Mobilization (OM) is a Christian Mission organization that was founded by George Verwer with the intention to mobilise young people to share the Gospel of Jesus with other people. To this date has 1 billion people been reached with the Gospel through the work of Operation Mobilization.

Last friday had George Verwer a seminar at the Swedish Alliance Missions Annual Conference in Gullbranna outside Halmstad. George Verwer talked about the 7 megatrends that he had seen in Christianity during his 60 years of service. The first and most important of the megatrends is to reach the unreached. George pointed out 40 countries in the world were christians are more or less subjected to persecution for their faith, and he talked about the importance to spread the Gospel of Christ to them.

He also spoke about the great opportunity that we have to reach the unreached in our own countries and he said this to the audience:
- You need to see the refugees that are coming to Sweden as an opportunity to obey God's Great Commission and reach the unreached in your own country.

The other 6 megatrends that George talked about was: 2) The Carismatic movement in Christianity that has affected more than a billion people worldwide. 3) God uses music and art to bring out the Gospel. 4) Business is Mission, businessmen have always been key individuals tanks to their financial support to the Mission. 5) Make use of technology like Radio, TV and social Media to reach the unreached. 

6) The churches is growing rapidly in China, India, Africa and South America. Almost 50% of the people living in Africa are Christian today. 7) Short-term Mission can give us long-term effects! George told us that when OM started it's mission they were almost alone in having short-term missionaries. And that they were often subjected to criticism by other organizations. But today have most missionary organizations short-term missionaries.

Welcome to the Revival Party

It's impossible to make a correct description of LZ7 as they blend elements of hip-hop, RnB, pop and dance culture and mix them with deep bass lines and awesome beats and create fresh and spiritually powerful music that they serve their audience. 

  

You might not heard about the Manchester based band LZ7 before. But the band are one the venue of getting bigger. They have released their fourth album - Home and 2016 might be the year when they reach a much bigger audience and have a major breakthrough. LZ represents an individual and 7 is the number for creativity. The meaning of the name LZ7 is that humanity are designed to be creative by a living God.

  

I covered LZ7s concert at the Gullbranna festival outside Halmstad i Sweden on july 4th 2015. And like the rest of the audience I was completely blown away by their performance and the strong presence of the Holy Spirit. LZ7 are a Christian band that not compromise with their faith and communicate the truth to both believers and nonbelievers with their modern sometimes groundbreaking music.

  

LZ7 gave the audience a really good revival party that was visited by the Holy Spirit. Many young people met with the Lord that evening and I'm glad that I decided to go to the show and not to the caravan for a good nights sleep. Later I walked away from the show with a big smile on my face thankful for what I just had experienced.

    

LZ7 will play at Skeppet at the Gullbranna festival on Saturday 9 July at 23:00. The band will be supported by the ex member of Family Force 5 Solomon Olds. It's really a concert to look forward to, I believe it's gonna be pretty awesome - Welcome to the revival party!

Music Festival Photos From Gullbranna 2015

The Gullbranna festival is a meeting place where you can get inspired and be challenged in the Christian faith, you can listen to good music, meet friends and enjoy the beach and the sea. The festival is held in Gullbranna outside the Swedish town Halmstad the first week in july.



The festival is arranged by the Swedish Alliance Mission Youth (SAU), in cooperation with the NGO Erikshjälpen, Gullbrannagården, Swedish Alliance Mission, the Centre Church in Forserum, Älgabäcksryds Missionsförsamling, Gullbranna Church, Bilda and 350 volunteers.

Dirty Loops Live - Gullbrannafestivalen 2014

It's clear that Dirty Loops enjoy playing live and thanks to their charisma and technical brilliance they soon have the 2.000 people strong audience in their hands. Dirty Loops singer and keyboardist Jonah Nilsson exclaims spontaneously: – Wow, what a big audience! When he looks out over the expectant crowd at the scene Skeppet (ship) in Gullbranna.
Dirty Loops concert is a showcase of instrumental skill spiced up with a really good vocal performance from Johan. The audience is very mixed and it consist of people in different ages from youngsters in their early teens to seniors. As an encore delivers Dirty Loops their hit "Hit me".



Even if they soon shall take the plane that shall take them from Sweden to Montreal Jazz Festival the band takes lot of time to talk to their fans and to sign albums and T-shirts after the show. And before they leave they socialize with their fans at the festival site.



Dirty Loops are a Swedish Jazz-fusion band from Stockholm who broke through on YouTube in 2011 thanks to the groupes jazz and fusion cover of Lady Gagas "Just Dance" which generated millions of klicks. The band consists of Jonah Nilsson - vocals and keyboard, Henrik Linder - bass and Aaron Mellergårdh drums. The song "Hit Me" that came out earlier this year has been a smash hit in Japan. And in april the groups first album Loopified became number 1 on the album pop chart in the same country. Dirty Loops music can best be descibed as a hyper energic mix between pop and jazz and it suites festivals like the Montreal Jazz Festival as well as pop and rock festivals. Dirty Loops have many fans in both places.

Narnia - The Lion Roars Again

The Roaring Lion has long since lost his mane but he shows that his strength is not in his mane but in his heart. Narnia invited the audience at Gullbranna to a really good show and proved that they still are one of the leading neo-classical metal bands in the world - Long Live the King.

Narnia is a Swedish neo-classical metal band that was founded by Christian Liljegren and Carl-Johan Grimmark in 1996. Christian left the band in 2008 and the band continued with Germán Pascual as lead singer until 2010 when the group disbanded. In late 2013 Christian and Carl-Johan decided to reform the group and go on tour to celebrate that it is 15 years since the release of their metal anthem Long Live the King. Narnia consist of Christian Liljegren - lead vocals, Carl-Johan Grimmark - guitars, vocals and bagpipe, Martin Härenstam - keyboard, Andreas Johansson, drums, Andreas Olsson - bass.

Låt musiken sköta snacket

En av de sakerna som jag uppskattade mest under fotoåret 2013 var möjligheten att åter få arbeta som konsertfotograf. Jag är kanske mest känd som reporter och dokumentärfotograf. Men det är alltid kul att få jobba på konserter och skriva referat och fotografera. Min vana trogen föredrar jag att vara mitt i händelsernas centrum med vidvinkelobjektiv, men det händer även att jag använder längre tele än 50mm för att få större variation i bilderna.

Öppna det övre bildspelet i Youtube och ställ in kvaliteten på max om du vill se det i bra kvalitet. Tyvärr går det inte att får riktigt samma tryck i skärpan på Youtube som på min dator men med tanke på begränsningarna är det ganska så ok. För er som inte kan se flash i era mobiler så finns det länkar till bildspelen nedan.

Med det här inlägget vill jag även passa på att tacka alla Er som följt min blogg under året och jag vill passa på att önska Er alla ett riktigt Gott Nytt År!

Gullbrannafestivalen - Den vänliga musikfestivalen

Du har säkert sett de svarta rubrikerna på tidningarnas löpsedlar om att den ena musikfestivalen efter den andra har lagts ned på grund av svikande publikintresse. Men det finns ett par undantag och ett av de undantagen är Gullbrannafestivalen som återigen kunde ståta med ett nytt rekordår.

Den 15:e upplagan av Gullbrannafestivalen kan ståta med nytt besöksrekord, nytt campingrekord och ett nytt försäljningsrekord. Under fyra dagar spelade nästa 60 band från många olika länder på fyra olika scener. Även om de flesta besökarna var mellan 15 och 25 år så är Gullbrannafestivalen en festival för alla åldrar och smaker. Ett par hundra personer i alla åldrar arbetade frivilligt med festivalen och de gjorde allt för att besökarna skulle trivas och må bra.

Gullbrannafestivalen är inte bara en musikfestival. Det är även en mötesplats där man kan få umgås med Gud och andra människor, en mötesplats där du har möjlighet att växa i din tro, lyssna på bra musik, umgås med nya och gamla vänner och njuta av havet och stranden. Gullbrannafestivalen är en kristen festival som arrangeras av Svenska Alliansmissionens Ungdom (SAU) och Ung Tro. Festivalen är givetvis öppen även för dem som inte är kristna och den är ett utmärkt tillfälle att upptäcka ny spännande musik på.

Musiken är som sagt väldigt blandad och det är en hel del nya band som gör Sverigedebut på Gullbrannafestivalen, i år spelade bland annat Royal Tailor, Philippa Hanna, Lainey Wright och Humming People för första gången på svensk mark. För min egen del rankade jag konserten med Newworldson högst framförallt för att jag fick se gitarristen och Motownlegenden Leroy Emmanuel i aktion. Jag fick även möjlighet att skaka tass och byta ett par ord med Leroy backstage. Att artister har blandat sig med festivalpubliken och setts småprata med sina fans och inte bara suttit och häckat i något Green Room på backstageområdet har haft en mycket positiv inverkan på hela festivalen. Tidigare har jag varit på en hel del konserter och festivaler och det som skiljer sig mest är att jag inte har sett en enda polis, eller några påverkade personer på Gullbranna.

Man kan åka till festivalen med hela familjen och det finns gott om aktiviteter för både lite mindre och större barn. I och med att det är en städad festival behöver man inte vara allt för orolig för sina barn. Jag kände mig trygg och kunde ha samma uppsikt över barnen som hemma vid huset. Om du är nyfiken på Gullbrannafestivalen är du varmt välkommen att besöka nästa festival som går av stapeln den 3-6 juli 2014.
